Worker motivation, intrinsic motivation and labour markets |
Prof. Yannis Georgellis, Head of the Department of Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour at BU’s Business school and Prof. Ruth Towse, Professor of Economics of Creative Industries at the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management have a common interest.
Both acadermics have recently published articles in Kyklos that deal with worker motivation – Prof. Georgellis with public service worker motivation in ‘Does public service motivation adapt?’ (Georgellis, Y. and Tabvuma, V. Kyklos, 2010, 63(2), 176–191) and Prof. Towse with motivation for artists’ creativity in ‘Creativity, Copyright and the Creative Industries Paradigm’ (Towse, Kyklos, Vol. 63 – August 2010 – No. 3, 461–478).
Both authors applied the concept of intrinsic motivation and reward to their respective groups, showing its relevance in understanding these labour markets.
