Professor Martin Kretschmer (CIPPM Director), Sukhpreet Singh (CIPPM PhD researcher) and Dr. Friedemann Kawohl (CIPPM member) are representing BU in membership of this society whose primary focus is to 'support scholarly investigation not only of the national histories of patent, copyright, and "related" rights; but equally of the diverse "roads not taken" in the evolution of these legal structures; of contemporary countertrends; and of the laws and norms that have been devised in non European cultures around the world to manage intellectual production and exchange.' The steering committee is international, with members from respected IP research centres including the Max Plank Institute for Intellectual Property (Munich), the University of California (Berkeley), Harvard University, the University of New South Wales (Sydney) and Martin Kretschmer at Bournemouth University. The ISHTIP website has information about this society, their aims and how to apply for membership. The first annual workshop took place on 26-27 June 2009 at Bocconi University, Milan, with the theme of 'The Construction of Immateriality: Practices of Appropriation and the Genealogy of Intellectual Property'.
