CIPPM supports a range of specialist postgraduate courses in Intellectual Property Law and management accredited by the Joint Education Board of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA).
Core is the Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property (PG Cert IP) that is available in flexible delivery, requiring attendance for only three block weekends (Thursday afternoon until Saturday evening). The PG Cert IP offers full exemptions from the CIPA/ITMA Joint Education Board foundation papers.
The LLM Intellectual Property extends the PG Cert and requires attendance at BU for one further weekend. You will research two extended papers off-campus: one a work-based project and one academic essay.
CIPPM also contributes to the one-year LLM International Commercial Law (in traditional campus delivery) which has a strong focus on international intellectual property law.
If you would like to discuss these courses in further detail, please contact askBU.
CIPPM also supports research students undertaking research leading to MPhil and PhD degrees. Current PhD projects include work on Ambush Marketing, Television Format Rights, and the overlap of Intellectual property rights, in particular between Trade mark and Design rights. CIPPM offers a regular series of Master classes, academic seminars, and study days, often in collaboration with other faculties.
